Lagniappe starts at Home, where you can open a recent list, create something new, or jump into the workspace directory. Once you open a record, colored icons switch between the information, documents, tasks, and files that belong to it.
When the Server Is Waking Up
Lagniappe uses basic scaling by default, which lets App Engine stop the server after it has been idle instead of charging to keep it running all day. The first request after that is a cold start. The server usually takes less than a minute to become responsive.
While the server is waking up (or if you are offline), you can still view pages that have already been opened in this browser. The offline icon appears next to the search bar and inside the submit buttons of forms that cannot be submitted offline. Those buttons become available again when the server reconnects.
If immediate first-page responses matter more than the additional cost, the owner can choose automatic scaling under Admin, Settings, then Deployment. Follow the Deployment Settings instructions to apply and deploy that choice.
Saving Work: Forms and Documents
Documents save themselves
Page and project documents sync in the background, save when you leave the editor, and merge edits from other people. There is no Save button.
Forms wait for you
Page information, task forms, settings, and other structured forms do not autosave. Use their Save, Update, or Create button.
Cloud alert means unsaved
The alert appears after a local form change. In a task row or the form builder, the cloud control itself can be used to save.
Task completion is immediate
The checkbox records completion right away. If an attached task form is open, its current values are included with that completion.
Common controls The small actions that repeat throughout the app.
Actions
Opens the actions beside a title, such as Star, Add note, Copy, Move, or Delete.
Star
Adds or removes the record from the Starred list on Home.
Add
Opens the creation form for the nearby list or active tab.
Help
Opens focused help for the form or tool you are using.
Close
Closes the current form or panel without saving new changes.
Reset
Returns a tool, filter, or nested panel to its starting view.
Delete
Opens a confirmation before removing the item.
Offline
The server cannot be reached. Supported edits are queued; other save buttons stay disabled until reconnection.
Home What expands in place, what opens a new page, and what the plus buttons create.
Select the main label for Starred, Directory, AI Tools, Pages, Notes, Tasks, Projects, or Categories to expand its list on Home; select it again to collapse it. An adjacent plus opens that section’s creation form instead. Select a result inside a list to leave Home and open the record.
My Page
Goes directly to your user page and its related information.
Directory
Expands links to Active Tasks, Forms, Users, Analytics, and Admin when you have access.
Pages
Expands recent pages; plus starts a page by choosing its category.
Notes
Expands workspace notes; plus opens a quick text or photo note.
Tasks
Expands your active tasks; plus creates a personal task on My Page.
Projects
Expands recent projects; plus creates a project that can gather work across pages.
Categories
Expands recent categories; plus creates a new collection of pages.
AI Tools
Expands recent reports; plus opens Ask, Create, or Organize when those tools are enabled.
The logo in the top bar always returns Home. The search box searches the whole workspace, while Manual and My Page are direct links rather than expandable lists.
Pages One durable record with optional structured information, a live document, tasks, files, notes, and an image.
A page is the thing you are keeping track of: a person, property, client, asset, event, or anything else. The category name above its title returns to the page list. The small actions control beside the title contains Star, Add note, and Delete when available.
Image
Shows or changes the page image. Upload and Generate appear in Info when no image is set.
Document
Opens the collaborative rich-text document. It autosaves and can be edited by several people.
Info
Shows the page name, description, categories, attached form, and structured fields.
Tasks
Shows active work on this page. The contextual plus creates a task here.
Files
Shows files attached to the page. The contextual plus opens the uploader.
Notes
Add note lives in the title actions; notes stay visible beneath the page heading.
Page documents, tasks, files, notes, and image tools are available from their dedicated sections. A globe opens document publishing settings, while a person or open lock opens user or page access settings.
Tasks Work that stays attached to its page and builds a completion history over time.
Tasks are designed to be updated and reused, especially for recurring work. They can hold a due date, schedule, assignee, project link, files, and an attached form. Completing a repeating task preserves the finished form in History before the next cycle begins.
Completion checkbox
Marks the task complete immediately; clear it to reopen a completed task.
Task settings
Edits the name, description, schedule, assignment, project, form, and attachments. Save with Update Task.
Task form
Opens the structured checklist or record attached to the task. Save with Update; it does not autosave.
History
Shows earlier completions and their saved form values.
Unsaved task
Appears after changing settings or form values. Select the cloud alert or the form's Update button to save.
Postpone
On Home, moves a task's due date without deleting its schedule.
Completed tasks
Expands or collapses the completed-task list on a page.
Task actions
Provides Move to Page, Combine with Task, and Delete when permitted.
Categories and index tables Browse many records, choose columns, sort and filter, or open creation and settings tools.
A category is a collection of pages and can provide their default form. Select a table row to open its record. Active Tasks, Forms, and Users use the same basic table layout, so these controls repeat.
Column sort/filter
Opens choices for sorting or filtering that column.
Visible columns
Shows or hides table columns. On mobile it opens the combined table-controls panel.
Edit table
Enables inline editing for supported cells.
Tools
Opens actions such as New Page, settings, filters, saved filters, or creation forms.
Saved filters
Opens reusable filters; the play button beside one runs it.
Row delete
Deletes that row after confirmation when you have permission.
Projects Coordinate a kind of work across many pages without moving tasks away from their original context.
Projects collect matching work across pages. Model tasks are reusable task templates: each can carry a default form and link to its In Progress and Completed task views.
Model Tasks
Shows the project's task templates. Plus creates another template.
Document
Opens the project's collaborative, autosaving document.
Info
Edits the project name and description. Use the save button.
Task Filters
Builds and saves cross-page views of tasks tracked by the project.
Forms and the form builder Define reusable structured fields, then attach the form to pages or tasks where people enter data.
A form is a reusable schema, not a filled record by itself. Opening a row in the Form Index opens the desktop builder. Page forms describe a page; task forms record work and can preserve a new submission in each task completion.
Components
Drag field types from the left into the form, then select a field to configure it.
Settings
Changes the selected field, form-level options, conditions, and access restrictions.
Preview switch
The pill switch at the top shows how the finished form will look and behave without saving it.
Builder save
Cloud alert means the schema has local changes. Select it to save; cloud check means the current schema is saved.
When filling a form on a page or task, edit the fields and use its Save or Update button. Saved changes can refresh other open viewers, but unsaved typing is local and is not collaborative document editing.
Files Preview or download an upload, inspect extracted text, and see the pages or tasks it belongs to.
Preview
Displays a PDF, image, audio file, or video when a browser preview is available.
Text Content
Displays searchable text extracted from the file. The tab heading distinguishes it from Preview.
File Info
Edits the file name, summary, options, and linked pages. Use the save button.
Download
Downloads the original file.
The filename at the top opens the browser preview when one exists. Colored badges under the summary link back to related pages and tasks.
Search, users, and Admin The remaining workspace-wide views follow the same list, table, and save patterns.
Search
Type in the top bar for quick results; open All Results to filter matches by record kind.
Users
User rows open user pages. Owners can use Tools for new users, groups, and permissions.
Public/regular users
On the User Index, switches between public and regular accounts when public users are enabled.
Admin
Opens Administrator site settings, exports, imports, and deployment information; secret-bearing Configuration remains Owner-only.
